Custom Taxidermy Display Pedestal Base

Custom Taxidermy Display Pedestal Base

$1625 + shipping. Approximate shipping & crating is $275

Here is a completed twisted juniper taxidermy pedestal, it has a very unique characteristic of  bored holes from bugs which we usually do not see. Most of the time the bugs/beetles will burrow under the bark creating “bug tracks” and not creating the holes.  This juniper taxidermy display base looks like a piece of pulled taffy that has been stood on its end and then settled into the floor.

The pedestal has an area that has been leveled/flattened for your trophy head mount to be displayed. Either you or your taxidermist can drill a hole into this are so that the post on your head mount can be inserted into the juniper. We would be happy to speak with your taxidermist to assist in attaching your head mount.

Measurements: 36” tall and is 18”x24” on the floor. Weight 77lbs

The buck head has been photoshopped onto this pedestal to give you an idea of what it will look like.

All of our juniper pedestals are pressure washed, sandblasted, power sanded, hand sanded, hand rubbed oil finish and a finishing/conditioning oil applied before shipping.

We ship all pedestals in a wooden crate, protected with bubble wrap, foam padding and bracing so that it is not damaged during shipment. This pedestal will ship out FedEx Ground.  Shipping within the US is approximately $275 this includes crating. Contact us for exact shipping and to purchase. 970-756-1448 twisted wood@rmtwist.com

The Journey of a Twisted Juniper Limb

Let me tell you a story....... there once was a juniper limb that we thought was destined to be a coffee table base (about 8 years ago)...... hours were spent on sanding, shaping and even adding a leg...... it was then set aside in a storage shed, we weren't quite sure how to make this table base work..... So there is sat for a few years collecting dust, water dripping onto it and most likely destined for the firewood pile...... we then decided to clean out the shed and figured that the piece of juniper would look good in the yard under our willow tree or burn it in the fire pit..... I was quite proud of the pretty piece of juniper and wanted to save it so in the yard it went, I would always keep the grass trimmed so that I could admire this piece of yard art and even though it started to turn grey from the elements I figured I would keep it for years to come.... well one day Tim asked what I thought about turning it into a taxidermy pedestal, I really didn't want to part with it but after some thought, I figured, what the heck might as well make something out of it...... So on this 8 or 9 year journey, this piece of juniper is finally what it's meant to be....

Taxidermy Wall Mount Display, Green River Fishing and Fort Building

This week on Rocky Mountain Twist: Tim and Candy are starting another adventure of high excitement and thrills in the wood shop with the dust in flying and power tools whirring, creating taxidermy wall display pedestals.... Meanwhile Dylan and Scooter Hicks are building forts and braving the raging waters of the Green River in Browns Park Colorado. The excitement and drama will leave you biting your fingernails and wondering what they will come up with next.....

To recap: We will be creating and finishing 3 wall display pedestals for taxidermy, and also going to posting more photos of some of our completed projects that we have not yet shared with you

Taxidermy Wall Pedestal Plaque

Dylan and Scooter built their own forts and since we worked through the holiday weekend, we did take an over night camping trip out to browns park.... It was 101 when we arrived but it wasn't too noticeable while we were fishing and swimming..... What a peaceful and fun way to take a break.....

As you can see Dylan and Scooter building their fort, it is of course made from our stack of plywood that we use to build crates to ship out our products. Scooter also converted our enclosed brown trailer, (which we use for curing our harvested wood), into her very own fort with table, chairs and shelving. How very blessed we are to be able to spend everyday with our kids, share in their creativity and not miss out on their growth

Curly Redwood Slab Tables with Burled Pine Bases

It always amazes me how fast time goes by and how busy we all seem to be. I always tell myself that I am going to keep up to day with this blog and post weekly. Haha well is seems like my intentions are good but finding the time has been crazy. Anyway, for reals this time, I will be posting projects weekly, I believe I finally have a system....

These three redwood curly slab tables were made together as a set. The original plan was to have one table that was 10' long, when we ordered the slabs fro Redwood Burl Company and they were getting ready to ship, our clients and us decided to build two tables that are 5' long.

The slabs arrived and sat in storage until we were able to start on the table project. When the time came we brainstormed some different ideas since our client gave us free creative design over the tables. We decided that it would be a great idea to make three tables, with the larger redwood table being the tallest and then making the smaller tables shorter.

Once we had the tables completed and set up, we were surprised at how well it all came together. This project was a complete joy to work on, I love being able to see how the wood comes to life with a little bit of patience and love.

Curly redwood is by far our most favorite grain of redwood slab to work with. The coloring and grain truly speaks for itself.
