This is a smaller piece of juniper which will have a burl pine top made to hold a wild turkey taxidermy mount. 

I see it holding an art sculpture or tall vase... It has many different uses.

Working From Home, Inspiring Kids

It is a lot of work working from home and having a home based business, but the time we get to spend with our kids, learning from them and them learning from us, is priceless. When our kids become inspired to create works if their own and show their own creative freedom, this is what it is all about.

Dylan is very proud of himself, he has been working on designing and building his own table. This project started a few years ago, and being a kid and having several kids projects going on, it took a while to complete. He finally completed his redwood slab table.

The redwood used on this piece was originally one solid piece, it was pretty thin and had warped before we could use it for a table top.  A few years ago Dylan said he wanted to make his own table, so my husband cut the slab into two pieces then our son did all the sanding and finish work. The day that he finished it he sold it!

Here our daughter Scooter is working on a wolf head carving on a piece of walnut. She has been watching me wood burn and inlay designs into wood and decided to make one herself.

Taxidermy Pedestal and Reclaimed Wood Wall Art Sign - Completed

The taxidermy pedestal has been completed. It sets on a pine burl base and has a pine burl "shelf" to attach the deer mount to.

These pedestals would also be perfect for an art display table and even an art piece.

This piece is lightly sanded to keep as much character in the wood as possible. The horse head was hand carved and then inlaid with turquoise colored stone. The quote has been wood burned.

This is a great gift idea for any horse enthusiast. We also would be happy to make custom signs.

Current Projects June 2015. Taxidermy Pedestal , Horse Wall Art with a quote

We are currently working on two projects. One of them will be a smaller twisted taxidermy pedestal which will work great for a small deer, antelope, etc.... The bases on the top and bottom are made from blue pine.

Pictures will be posted from start to finish.... 

 Stone Inlaid Horse Wall Art with Quote

This piece has been carved on reclaimed wood, the horse head has been hand carved and I am in the process of inlaying it with turquoise colored stone. It will have a quote "Because when I ride I feel free" the quote will be wood burned....
