Crates Headed to Texas

It is very rewarding when we are loading a truck and watching our newest projects head to Texas, not very often do you have 5 crates all going to the same place.

On this large trailer there are 4 taxidermy pedestals and 1 redwood headboard. It took 2 1/2 days, plywood, hardboard, foam, 2x4's 2x6's, bubble wrap and many screws to get 5 crates built.

Here is the largest pedestal that was crated, it will hold three large buck mounts. You can see the process of packaging and crating:

Once it is braced inside the crate, we add the top and secure

Our last crating project out of the 5 crates was the headboard. It was a learning experience because we had not built a crate like this before and it was very heavy.

First we had to build the bottom of the crate and reinforce with 2x4's and 2x6's

We flipped the bottom back over and lined it with foam so that the redwood headboard was protected.

The headboard is setting the tables to the right of the crate, Tim and I moved the headboard from the tables and laid it on the 2x4's that span the crate. I made sure all the foam was in the right spot and that there was bubble wrap between the foam and the wood so that the foam would not rub on the wood. Tim then lifted on end of the headboard so I could remove the 2x4, and then we did the same on the other end.

Bubble wrap was layered across the top of the headboard and then more foam added, we then weighted down the foam and bubble wrap with scrap plywood and then assembled and attached the top.

Here is the truck from Texas with a 40' long trailer...

 And off they go....
